Meet the Maker: Shweta

We were so lucky to find Shweta via a great friend of mine. She is kind, creative and an incredible knitter. Shweta learns each pattern fast and is weaves care and love into every stitch. See what she has to say for Fashion Revolution week below.
Who taught you to knit and how long have you been knitting for?
It all started around 7 years ago during a cold Canberra winter where I wanted to make my own woolly socks. As a true millennial I went straight to youtube to learn how, and the rest is history.

Why do you enjoy knitting?
Although, I have had my fair share of knitters elbow, I find it so calming and therapeutic.

What does it mean to you to knit for Revel Knitwear?
What Revel knitwear stands for is the most important aspect for me. It’s a business that really challenges the unethical and unsustainable practices that have become normal in the fashion industry. It feels great to know that by supporting Revel knitwear I’m actually helping to create a more sustainable future.

What’s one thing you would like our customers to know about what it takes/what it’s like to make clothing?
I know that each piece I make will eventually find a new home and be a staple for years to come, so I take so much care is knitting each piece. I always want to be 100% happy with the final product, and sometimes that means undoing hours of knitting to fix an early mistake… which has embarrassingly happened more than once.
